When Aamir refused to give 4 hours to Farah Khan for OSO

Farah Khan does not keep anything in her heart. While participating in a knowledge series seminar at NFDC's Film Bazaar at Goa, she disclosed how she had tried to get Aamir Khan also for her OM SHANTI OM song where almost every film star of the industry marked his/her presence. She did not succeed in roping him in though.

CHECK OUT: Farah Khan - Item numbers cannot make bad film a hit

Aamir was needed for four hours for the shoot. When contacted by Farah he told her that if he gave those four hours to her, his film TAARE ZAMEEN PAR (TZP) would get delayed by four months. Farah did not pursue the matter further with Aamir and decided not to go deeper into Aamir's apparently bizarre logic. Finally, TZP and OM SHANTI OM were released on the same date and both went on to create box office history.

Incidentally, Farah started her choreography career with Aamir Khan starrer JO JEETA WOHI SIKNDAR directed by Mansoor Khan.

Amitabh Bachchan to play Rabindranath Tagore?

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan might play world's literary king Rabindranath Tagore in Argentinian filmmaker Pablo Cesar's next film. This is called a dream come true in any superstar's life.

Cesar, whose film 'Shores' is being screened at the 42nd International Film festival of India (IFFI) informed IBN LIVE that he wanted Amitabh to play nobel-winner Tagore's role in his next. "I am in the process of casting for the film. I want Amitabh Bachchan for the role of Tagore," said Pablo.

"I am trying to keep it real. The film will be shot in Bengal, near Shantiniketan and will be in Bengali. Tagore's interactions with Victoria Ocampo will be in Spanish," he added. So if Mr Big B finally agrees for this dream role, it would be yet another landmark in his career.

Amitabh Bachchan to take a break for granddaughter?

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan wants to go for a temporary break in order to take care of his granddaughter. During a media interaction held at his Juhu property Janak, Amitabh Bachchan said that he is ?jobless? and that he would like to focus his efforts on raising his grandchild now.

?I am jobless right now. My show Kaun Banega Crorepati is also over and there is no other film that I will be shooting for right now. I have also not taken up any other work (brand endorsements etc) right now,? said Amitabh.

But son Abhishek Bachchan cleared the fact that his dad Mr Big B now has a full-time job. ?No, he is not jobless, he is on full time duty. He has to take care of his grand daughter!? said Abhishek. If this comes true, Bollywood will miss you Mr Bachchan.

Amitabh Bachchan losses a bet to his granddaughter

Superstar Amitabh Bachchan has lost a bet to his granddaughter! You are wrong, if you think that it was Aishwarya Rai's new-born baby girl Betti B. It was Navya, daughter of Big B' daughter Shweta Nanda, who won the bet by reading the first book of 'The Immortals of Meluha' in 45 minutes.

Yesterday, Amitabh Bachchan took to his Twitter page to admit his defeat. Big B tweeted, ?Sorry for the delay .. was trying to win an argument. Navya my granddaughter finished reading 'the immortals of Meluha' in 45 mins!? He further wrote, ?Navya did finish the first book in 45 mins !! Lost a bet now.?

However, 'The Immortals of Meluha' is the first novel of the Shiva trilogy series by Amish Tripathi. The story takes place in the imaginary land of Meluha and deals with how they are saved from their wars by a nomad named Shiva. The English book is about 31 pages in length and 45 minutes is a very short period to read it.

Bachchans give huge fillip to the ?girl child? in India

Son preference is a well-documented phenomenon in India, with a report saying an estimated 500,000 female foetuses are aborted in the country every year. So when Bollywood?s first family, the Bachchans, welcomed the birth of a daughter with open arms, they may have given a huge fillip to the girl child.

Nearly a week after the event, the Bachchan family was still gushing about the newborn Tuesday when they finally brought her home from hospital.

?Goddess Lakshmi has come to our home and we have brought home Lakshmi ratan,? said Amitabh Bachchan about his granddaughter, born to son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya.

The message could be lost to none.

Celebrities are often used as brand ambassadors by NGOs to drive home a point. And there can be no better example of that in India than Amitabh Bachchan, who was once successfully roped in for the polio vaccination drive.

What?s more, the birth of a girl child in his family has been hailed by other celebrities too, promising a larger impact on Bollywood fans.

Soon after Aishwarya gave birth Nov 16, TV host Mini Mathur tweeted: ?My heart warms up 2 see the nation welcome a baby girl with so much love. Hope it learns 2 give the same affection to all our tiny angels.?

Gul Panag wrote: ?Here?s hoping the little Bachchan baby girl will give many others a reason to let their baby girls actually BE born. In a country where #femalefoeticide is widespread, a baby girl born to celebrity parents will hopefully have some positive effect.?

Both Abhishek and his mother, Jaya Bachchan, were keen on a girl child.

?I wish for a healthy baby, hopefully, a daughter who looks just like Ash,? Abhishek said in an interview, while his mom expressed her desire to welcome a ?poti? (granddaughter).

Naysayers had once wagged their tongues against Amitabh and accused him of being biased towards the male child when at a gathering in Varanasi in 2006 he said he wanted his son to get married and produce a son.

But they were proved wrong when an excited Big B tweeted after his granddaughter?s birth: ?I AM DADA to the cutest baby girl, A dada ji ? Ecstatic.?

The 69-year-old?s mega success on the big screen turned him into an icon and his celebrity status worked wonders when he was roped in to campaign for polio eradication in 2002.

The country has recorded a worst decadal child sex ratio since independence as per the Census of India 2011. According to a report, since 1991, 80 percent of districts in India have recorded a declining sex ratio with the state of Punjab being the worst.

The decline in the child sex ratio in India is evident in the census figures. In 2001, the figure was 927 girls to 1,000 boys. Ten years later it has fallen to 914 girls against 1,000 boys.

Haryana is said to be the worst affected state ? grooms have to travel thousands of kilometers in search of a bride as there are not enough girls there.

?Most of the time when celebrities of high stature like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan or Shabana Azmi promote a social campaign, it becomes the movement of new India as people start following them. Let?s hope that Abhishek and Ash?s baby girl creates the positive influence on all those families who are against the birth of the girl child,? said Meghna Rao who runs an NGO called Breakthrough.

?It might change the way people welcome the baby girl in India and I am hopeful that she will also change the rude attitude of people,? she added.

A study commissioned by the Health Ministry and Unicef and conducted by the Social and Rural Research Institute found that 73.6 percent guardians with children under the age of five in lower socio-economic categories could recall the television advertisement featuring Big B.

?The Bachchan family has always been responsible citizens, starting from the late Harivansh Rai Bachchan to Amitabh Bachchan and this is not only because of their status in society but because of their social responsibility towards society,? said designer Anu P.D., who is associated with NGO The Earth Foundation, which contributes to different healthcare segments.

?Aishwarya and Abhishek are blessed with a baby girl and I am sure this will increase awareness among the masses,? she said. ? IANS

Ranveer Singh is Aamir Khan's copycat?

The Band, Baaja, Baarat actor Ranveer Singh seems to follow Aamir Khan. Recently Ranveer confessed that he does not work for money. In fact money doesn't excite him.

If we recall, Bollywood's Mr Perfectionist Khan too said the same since he has a super selective attitude towards films. Unlike other actors, Aamir made it very clear that money never pulls him to a movie. What matters to him is a quality and healthy script.

Apparently following the same Ranveer said, "I do not work for money. Money never excites me, the script and the role do. My mind is not in commercial cinema; I'm here to satisfy my creative soul.?

Even a few days back, Ranveer mimicked Aamir Khan during an event launch of the film Lootera. He said, "Now on, I will only wear my pants over my tummy, like Aamir Khan.?

Oops! what's wrong Ranveer? It seems that the budding actor is too much in love with Aamir Khan.

After Amitabh Bachchan, Super 30's Anand Kumar inspires Ranbir Kapoor

After inspiring Amitabh Bachchan's character in Aarakshan, mathematician Anand Kumar of the Super 30 fame is set to get a full-fledged movie based on his life.

With Ranbir Kapoor playing the Anand on screen, sources claim that the movie will be directed by Anurag Basu.

Super 30 is an initiative by Anand where he grooms 30 poor children from rural and impoverished backgrounds for the highly competitive IIT-JEE.

Basu has apparently visited Anand in Patna to discuss the film. Sanjeev Dutt, the writer of films like 'Page 3', 'Life in a Metro' and others, is also attracted to the project.

It is, however, not known when the film will be shot.

Anand has already been subject of documentaries by Discovery, NHK of Japan, and French 24.

When contacted, Anand admitted that some producers and directors from the Bollywood had contacted him, but he refused to elaborate. "Yes, some of them have approached me, but it is too early to discuss these issues at this point. I am busy with Super 30 at the moment," he added.

Rockstar rocks, but Shakal Pe Mat Ja groans at Box Office

Ranbir Kapoor's latest movie Rockstar has once again topped the weekend Box Office chart by beating this week's new release Shakal Pe Mat Ja. The Imtiaz Ali directed film has earned nearly Rs 10 crore net in the collection centres in the second weekend. With this, the earning of the movie reaches Rs 60 crore in 10 days.

New release Shakal Pe Mat Ja had a very poor beginning at the Box Office. Firstly, the collection of the movie was partially affected by the successful run of the previous releases like Rockstar and Ra.One. Secondly, the movie received negative reviews from the film critics.

However, Shakal Pe Mat Ja, which is directed by Shubh Mukherjee, features Shubh, Saurabh, Raghubir and Aamna Sharif in the leads. The movie has an interesting concept, but its lackluster screenplay disappointed the movie goers.

Rockstar` Ranbir to turn a mathematician

?Rockstar? Ranbir is all set to turn a mathematician! Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor is believed to have said yes for a biopic about the inspiring life of a mathematician from Bihar. The film, which is still in its initial stage, will be made by ace filmmaker Anurag Basu.

Incidentally, Basu is directing Ranbir?s upcoming ?Barfee? as of now.

According to a source, Anurag Basu, while wrapping up ?Barfee?, was quietly researching on Anand Kumar`s life.

Anand Kumar, a 38 year-old mathematician from Patna, who hailed from an underprivileged background, contributed to top scientific journals and papers. His father worked as a clerk and Kumar completed his education while helping his mother sell papads.

Industry experts feel if Basu?s biopic would be a rip-off of Hollywood block buster ?The Beautiful Mind?, where the protagonist Russel Crowe played a mathematician despite suffering from paranoid schizophrenia?

But, a source said that it will be far different from that.

Basu was reportedly blown over when he learnt about Kumar`s background and his contribution to maths and society.

When contacted, Basu said, "I`ve been to Patna frequently to meet someone on whom I plan to make a film. Beyond that, I can`t say much."

Anand Kumar has been the subject of several documentaries and is well known for his Super 30 programme, which has helped several economically disadvantaged students bag admission into top institutes like the IITs.

?Anurag has spoken to Ranbir about Anand. And Ranbir is eager to get into the heart and mind of the mathematician,? said the source.

Full Disclosure: A stylist tells all.

"People seem to think being a stylist is a glamorous job. It?s actually the most unpaid job, with payments arriving many months after the shoot. Luckily for me, I have a day job and so I refer to it as my little trust fund. The other difficult thing is that you have to do everything: the creative concept, find a photographer, model, make-up artist, location, be on the phone with every fricking PR person in town sourcing clothes, and managing the tempers and needs and fancies of five different people. And if the tiniest thing goes wrong, it?s always ?the stylist?s fault?.
Magazines don?t pay for a thing, not travel or food or anything. Zero. So we have to tie up hotel sponsorships. Get Dior or Armani on board to foot the bill, and give them a cover in return. Most Indian fashion magazines have no voice or vision, just one stale formula: take a Dior/LV dress, add a Bollywood actress, put them in a palace, and there?s your cover. You?ll often find them sporting a random flashy watch?to ensure five pages of ads. And Bollywood actresses can be painful.
You know why you see so many Russian models around? Indian models. They bully younger designers, think too much of themselves, don?t remain in shape, and they have ridiculously long careers despite all this?some of the so-called ?top? models here could be the mothers of the new 16-year-old supermodels abroad.
They?re just not professional. Tamara Moss looks amazing, but she?s amazingly painful to work with?always in her own world, not in a good way. Joey Matthews is not in shape. Jesse Randhawa should give up. Noyonika Chatterjee, well, she was professional, but thank God she?s stopped. Tinu Verghese throws tantrums. Bhawna Sharma and Michelle (Innes) have problems, post-marriage, posing in hotpants and swimsuits. Which is just as well, considering the shape they?re in."
