Cleanse, tone, moisturise ? it?s the three-step skin care ritual that every celebrity swears by, from Katrina Kaif to Priyanka Chopra and Bipasha Basu. The process takes just a few minutes, but experts say, it?s the secret to a healthy, glowing skin.
?I can?t stress enough the importance of cleansing, toning and moisturising your skin. Not only in the morning, but also before going to bed at night,? says celebrity makeup artist Anu Mehra. ?Following this routine regularly will result in younger, fresher skin that has a healthy glow. At the end of the day, your facewash just can?t handle waterproof mascara, transfer-resistant lipstick and long-wear foundation. A good makeup remover should do the trick, however.
How to cleanse
Soften a facial cotton pad with a few drops of remover and gently wipe away the mascara, from root to tip. Keeping your eyes closed, swipe the pad along the lower eyelid, starting from the inside out. Using a clean cotton pad, wipe away lipstick and foundation from the face and neck. Anu says, ?I always recommend that you use a cleanser even if you don?t wear makeup because it unclogs the pores and removes dirt, sweat, dead skin cells and other impurities that have accumulated during the day.? The expert adds, ?One should always be gentle with the sensitive under-eye area. One good tip for removing stubborn eye makeup is to use a drop of baby oil.?
Tips for toning
After cleansing, dab on a toner that suits your skin type, focussing on the forehead, nose and chin. Avoid the delicate eye and mouth areas, which can dry out with the use of a toner. ?This intermediate step is to even out the skin and reduce the appearance of pores. And finally, one must moisturise even at night to hydrate the skin and restore the moisture lost during the day? explains Anu. No matter what your skin type or beauty habits, the CTM ritual should be at the core of your daily skin care routine for a gorgeous skin.
