Katrina has overpowered other actresses: Shakti Kapoor

Katrina Kaif is being showered with praise for her Chikni Chameli item number in Agneepath and Shakti Kapoor says it is her hard work that has helped her reach this position in the industry.

"To come to this situation of power as an actor requires hard work and the same goes for Katrina. Look at her, a girl coming from London and she has overpowered all the other heroines in the country. It's only her hard work and I wish her all the best," Shakti said here at an event.

Shakti, 59, was recently seen in Bigg Boss 5 and his last film was Bin Bulaye Baraati.

Aamir Khan beats SRK with 90 crore deal

Bollywood's Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan has grabbed a great deal recently. Reportedly, Aamir's upcoming movie Talaash has been sold to Reliance for Rs 90 crore.

If we recall Shahrukh Khan's Don 2 was sold at Rs 80 crores. But Aamir's Talaash beats SRK's Don 2 by a margin of Rs 10 crore. The deal between producer Excel Entertainment and Reliance was finalised last week.

Though the amount seems too huge, trade analyst Amod Mehra felt it was a reasonable amount. The movie is a psychological thriller that will be featuring Aamir Khan, Rani Mukherjee and Kareena Kapoor in the pivotal roles.

Kat to romance Kamal Hassan in Southern film

After dominating Bollywood, it seems Katrina Kaif has set her eyes on Southern film industry as she is all geared up to romance Kamal Hassan in 'Thalaivan Irukiran', according to grapevine.

The 27-year-old was apparently very keen to attach herself with the project, which might also feature Tamil film star Ajith.

The movie will be produced by Aascar Ravichandran.

However, this is not the only film that would keep the former model busy in Southern film industry, as she might even play South's legendary actor Rajinikanth's love interest in his daughter Soundanarya's film

Salman Khan@46: The ageless entertainer

Not many people complained when the makers of 'Ek Tha Tiger' postponed the release of the film to Eid, 2012 instead of previously scheduled June 1 premier. Salman Khan's loyal fan base couldn?t ask for a better Eid celebration.

Riding on the success waves of 'Wanted', 'Dabangg', 'Ready' and 'Bodyguard', the actor will return to the silver screen with Kabir Khan's 'Ek Tha Tiger'.

The year 2011 has been phenomenal for Salman Khan who has emerged as the new Rajinikanth of the Hindi cinema. Internet is the best place to check his popularity. The unofficial blogs and websites run by his fans get more hits than prominent film websites. Fake 'Being Human' t-shirt comment made by Khan on Bigg Boss gets more publicity than Sunny Leone's pole dancing.

This year has raised Salman's status from an ultra hero to a superhero. Probably Rajinikanth is the only other actor alive at this time who could have turned films like 'Ready' and 'Bodyguard' into such hugely successful ventures.

The Khan trinity still rules the game and they don't look to leave the arena any time soon. Among themselves, Shah Rukh and Aamir are more media friendly and easily available, which give them an edge over Salman, but the niche fan base tilts the race in favour of Salman. These are the people who keep mum during a debate about meaningful cinema but are the first ones to pull out their wallets whenever a 'Ready' or a 'Bodyguard' releases.

Salman is not meant for any happy-go-lucky image. The new age audiences might have forgotten the black buck case or the footpath case but the references made by 24 hour media inspire them to think Salman as a brutal but fun loving macho man.

On the other hand, the very same opinion leaders report about Salman's philanthropic deeds and the audiences get confused about what stand to take.

Finally the outcome creates a persona which is short tempered and sadist but has a golden heart. The common youth, developed along with a consumerist society, starts to identify with this image simply because of the immense mental pressure he enjoys every day.

There is either a family or a business venture to support other actors of his age but Salman doesn't have any of the two privileges. This compels the actor to look for a steady relationship which invariably ends up in a disaster. It's the good luck that has made him one of the most bankable actors of Bollywood because film wise he has not experimented much, neither he has shown the courage to take up challenging tasks.

Critics are not tired of portraying Salman as someone who doesn't know how to act but this tenderness is his USP. Dabangg's spontaneous dancing was any day catchier than sophisticated dancing skills displayed by other actors.

His fans defend Salman in the name of entertainment. For them, Khan is someone who acts for pure entertainment. Further many newcomers praise him for the unconditional help he offers. This also establishes his image of an angry young man trapped in a big bad film world.

His emotional outbursts in 'Tere Naam' appeared to describe his inner state. His reluctance to marry gives fodder for thought but most importantly it gives female fans a reason to feel good about. It may sound dim-witted but his single status fetches acceptance for the actor in certain quarters despite a bad image.

The actor is turning 46 on December 27 but the market still refuses to believe it. Salman will remain the moody, stylish and restless soul in coming months but who cares till he keeps entertaining the fans.

Katrina Kaif To Kick Butt?Hollywood Style!

Fans of Katrina Kaif, who are used to see her playing the delicate darling in almost all her movies, can now gear up for a major surprise. Sources claim that the Kashmiri-British actress, known for her Barbie doll image, will be soon performing hard core action and stunt sequences in forthcoming spy thriller Ek Tha Tiger.

This is not all?Buzz has it that Hollywood action director Conrad Palmisano, who has worked on super-hit Hollywood projects like 'Transformers' and Nicolas Cage starrer 'Seeking Justice' has been roped in to train Kaif. A source was quoted to have said, "Katrina is really pushing herself to perform stunts that are generally done by male actors. She has been doing free-falls and mid-air fights with Salman."

Talking about her stunts that she will be performing in the Kabir Khan helmed flick, Katrina Kaif was quoted to have said, "It's scary. But it is also great fun. I have done only delicate and feminine roles till now. This is a new challenge for me. I guess that's what I am looking for at this stage of my career."
