Not so blind item: It's always the innocent looking ones!

Mr. Masand's blind item for this week:
A certain superstar actress from the previous decade,  who is usually touted and worshiped for being a graceful elegant Botoxed ageless beauty, let her true colors come out recently. And it wasn't pretty. She was invited to kick off a much-anticipated charity event in Delhi last month, where her crony manager took the opportunity to wipe the organizers clean!
Among their list of demands:
  • Six air tickets to Delhi: 3 Business class tickets for the actress, her manager, and his daughter and another 3 for her personal attendant, a hair-dresser, and a make-up man.

  • A BMW available to the actress for the duration of her stay.

  • Accommodation in a nearby 7-star hotel, because the 5-star hotel where reservations were already made for the actress and her entourage weren't suitable. Too bad for her the event was also being held there.

  • An outfit furnished by a top Delhi designer costing at about Rs. 2.5 lakh.

  • And all remaining expenses during her stay, including room service, laundry, and salon expenses.

Obviously this cl-ASS-y lady has never eaten a piece of humble pie, especially considering that her appearance at the event was a paid one! Moreover, the actress still hasn't been finalized for a film despite profusely seeking her comeback to cinematic glory.
Read our reveal, after the jump!

Whew! Sridevi often gets a bad rap for being extravagant in her spending ways and chosen lifestyle. But, at least she pays for all her own luxuries! She's not trying to mooch off of others during a paid event appearance, which would prolly do the actress more good than anyone else anyway! Tsk, tsk, this b*tchy diva is none other than the holy saintly angelic Madhuri Dixit Nene. All of those things which she is not, btw.

Back in her heyday, MD was notorious for her demands on and off the sets, be them monetary or otherwise.  Back home in Denver, reports have suggested Madhuri is said to be generously bashful if an "American" spots her out and recognizes her status, while being rude and snobby to Indians who approach her. Maybe she was having a bad day when one of us went up to her...?

Her long-time friend and business manager is the famous manager to the stars, Rikku Rakesh Nath. He's been with MD for years, and is notoriously loyal and protective of her. At one point in time or another, he's managed other stars like Anil Kapoor, Kangna Ranaut, Ameesha Patel, Adnan Sami, and others as well. His daughter, Dakshina often travels with him and assists him with day-to-day duties.

The event in question was the 2011 Synergy1 Delhi Couture Week which happened at the end of last month in Delhi. Madhuri was invited to kick the event off for designer Varun Bahl. Naturally she had to wear one of his creations. Little did the organizers (FDCI: Fashion Design Council of India, a non-profit organization) know that she would demand one of his designs costing at about Rs. 2.5 lakhs! Some of Varun's creations are listed for Rs. 10 lakhs or higher, so I'm guessing FDCI was happy she didn't pick one of those.

The event took place at Delhi's Taj Palace Hotel, which is beautiful in and of itself. Since the event was taking place there, the hotel cut a deal with FDCI, so most guests and participants were put up at the same venue. Oh but that wasn't good enough for our lil Mads. She needed to be far away from the rest of the Delhi fashion riff-raff and asked for more exclusive accommodations. The FDCI folks were prolly glad when it was all over. They caved in and got Madhuri the dress she wanted, the car she wanted, the hotel she wanted, everything else on her extravagant backstage rider AND paid her a handsome amount for her appearance.

Madhuri is, after all, just one of many! Imagine meeting the demands of all the other divas who were in attendance that week. But, with no films in hand (Dedh Ishqiya has been pushed back) and insiders whispering about Madhuri wanting to make the biggest comeback of Bollywood, you'd think a lil modesty was in order.

Sridevi uncovered. ***Updated***

Holy cheese and crackers! Is there any part of Sridevi that is natural anymore? Fake contacts, fake lashes, fake nose, fake color, fake teeth...well veneers anyway, not to mention the air brushing that must have been done to get rid of the wrinkles which Botox couldn't hide. Jeez! Such a beautiful face...now, nothing but a cesspool of bio-hazardous parts and chemicals. Ick. Reminds me of the last scene in Death Becomes Her...

According to Mr. Masand:
Bitchy star wives have been sniggering about an outrageous close-up of Sridevi on the cover of a women?s magazine that?s just hit the stands. The picture, they insist, makes the Chandni star seem ?alien-like?, with her nose and mouth looking positively distorted, not to mention a giant forehead. Over lazy weekend brunches, some ladies have been placing bets over whether it?s a PhotoShop job gone wrong, or the result of a cosmetologist nodding off on duty.
The pic does suck, big time. But, "giant forehead?" Have they seen THIS girl? Hmm...wonder which lady is doing most of the ridiculing. Would her name start with Mad and end with huri, I wonder? More on her coming up...!

Aarakshan to have changes.... **Updated: Protest Pics**

To hell with freedom of expression through the medium of film! Director Prakash Jha, who has been on the receiving end of backlash for his upcoming movie from practically everybody, has finally succumbed to their will and is getting ready to make some (un)necessary changes to Aarakshan.

Aarakshan, of course, deals with the issue of caste-based reservations within the Indian education system, and several political parties and groups have expressed concern over its content because of anti-Dalit comments. Aside from several states which have refused the release of the film in their regions, the biggest opposition has been coming from the Republican Party of India (RPI).

Earlier this week, Jha's office and home were attacked by RPI activists, who staged protests and burned posters of the film. Several actors from the film have also been targeted for receiving death threats. Whoa, not cool! It's a f*cking movie for crying out loud!

Though the filmmaker reached a settlement with RPI Thursday, security has been stepped up at multiple multiplexes in Mumbai. The city's deputy commissioner said:
"We have deployed a good manforce in almost all theatres in Mumbai to curb any kind of disturbance caused by anyone. As far as providing extra security is concerned, that depends on the situation after the movie is released. We have provided security to the entire star cast of the film because there were threats to their life."
Today Prakash Jha stated:
"Reservation is a sensitive issue but we have kept that in mind. Political reasons could be behind the ban on the film. I will make appropriate cuts in the film as per suggestions."
I guess our suggestions -- Noooooooo! Don't let them intimidate you, damn it! Stick to your art and do the kind of film you originally intended to do! -- fell on deaf ears. Grrreat.

S'pose Bollywood should just stick to sappy chappy love stories with 6 colorful song sequences employing 60 dancers while opposing families tear apart the lives of their lovesick children who can't fulfill their unrequited love and jump off a cliff, only to come back in their next lives to find each other and seek revenge on the bad guy from their past life who is remarkably not only alive, but has aged very little. Yay for excellence in Hindi cinema!

**************
Now that the film is only a day away from opening in theaters and the list of states banning it's release grows, more riots and protests are happening all over:

BSP members burn film posters in protest in Thane.

Protesters in Punjab burn Prakash Jha in effigy.

A BSP member beats a pic of Amitabh Bachchan's face with his shoe.
According to several news outlets:
Protesters claim the film speaks against India's affirmative action program that reserves education seats and jobs for the country's indigenous peoples and its dalits, or untouchables, who have no caste and have suffered centuries of severe discrimination, and members of other lower castes. 3 Indian states have banned the movie, slated to be released Friday, following apprehensions that certain scenes and dialogues may trigger trouble.
Uh, yeah I'd say 'trouble' has already begun. Why engage in healthy political discourse when going batsh*t crazy seems to get the job done, eh!? Sad. Despite what social references the film has, it's a fictional movie, with fictional characters!

Ra.One Game on September 11th!

Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, Ra.One, directed by Anubhav Sinha and starring Shah Rukh Khan, Arjun Rampal and Kareena Kapoor is one of the films that fans are eagerly awaiting to hit cinemas this year. It is a superhero tale that includes out of the world special effects and action sequences and is apparently one of the most expensive films made in Hindi cinema. As we reported first, part of the really cool promotions and tie-ins for the upcoming superhero film Ra.One, is the development of a Sony Playstation Game for both PS2 and PS3. Developed by Trine, this is a first for an Indian film and from what we hear the game is fab! According to Bottomline Media, "We are very excited about the Sony Playstation-Ra.One Game association. For the first time ever in India you see The SRK on the Playsation game." So, when can you get your hands on a copy? September 11th!

Based on an idea by Shah Rukh Khan, it features voiceovers by SRK, Arjun Rampal and Kareena Kapoor. The game's adventure is a prequel to the film: you get to meet the characters, learn their super powers and get immersed in the world of Ra.One, before the film even releases in October. So you can play as SRK's G.One, Arjun Rampal Ra.One and Shah Rukh told us exclusively earlier there is even a good and a bad Kareena character!

Shah Rukh Khan is very excited about this game, "It has been a dream since childhood to be somehow involved in videogame designing or making them as all kids dream of. So now many years down the line the dream is fulfilled!"

Adding, "Double pleasure gaming and movies?.Ra.One on PS 2 & PS3?feeling like a kid all over. Hope everyone enjoys the game and also the movie. The game is awesome fun?G.One looks cool?so does Ra.One and Kareena in an avatar which everyone will enjoy?.too thrilled. Finally can play a game?be a gamer and the game itself?YAY!!!"

We say YAY too and that we can't wait to play the game to hold us over until we can see the film when it releases on October 26th.

We have some exclusive screenshots of the game! Check out how cool and how good SRK looks in the virtual world too!
