Trade bits!

Hrithik Roshan has decided to do a film with Yash Raj. The last time he worked with the Chopras was Dhoom 2. Word is, they are trying to get Kareena Kapoor to be his female lead. Oooh...Yaadein Part 2? Zzzzz.....

Imran Khan has signed another Yash Raj Film and it will be helmed by a new director. Aww, it's nice that the industry still does pity casting.

Ajay Devgn is taking part in every aspect of his new film, Son of Sardar, being directed by Ashwini Dheer, and he?s involved with all the pre-production work. Mm hmm...I bet he's overseeing the auditions too....!

Since the script of Milan Luthria?s Once Upon A Time In Mumbai sequel has not been locked, there?s talk in the trade that shooting might have to be postponed.

UTV Motion Pictures has announced an association with director Imtiaz Ali for the official Hindi remake of the 2009 South Korean romantic action comedy My Girlfriend Is An Agent. The project also marks Ali?s wife, Preety?s foray into film production with the recently launched production house, PI Films. Choreographer Bosco of Bosco-Caesar debuts as director of the film. Farah Khan, watch out!

Thinking out loud....

So Hrithik Roshan's wax figure at Madam Tussaud's is one of the most kissed figures in their whole freaky freak show of a museum. Ewww, people actually make out with those things? I wonder how often they sanitize his lips......?

A not so surprising fact: according to MT apparently 20% of the smoochers are men.
;-)

Wanting to be seen....?

....and heard, apparently!

Rumor is going around town that Ameesha Patel and her friend with benefits business partner, Kunal Goomer were overheard gossiping in a Juhu hotel lobby recently. They, along with a group of friends, had just finished attending a show at Sussanne Roshan's The Save a Bollywood Wife Charcoal Project.

Ameesha and Kunal got to talking about a certain big blockbuster film that released recently and its subsequent fizzled industry reaction. Moreover it's said, that Ameesha didn't speak too highly of her ex co-star, Arjun Rampal. She also didn't hesitate to regale her friends with stories about Mr. Rampal's sexcapades with various *people* during their old shooting days. Hmm....did she exclude herself?

After the laughs died down, they got down to business and discussed her fake production company, before heading in for a bite to eat. Sounds like Ms. Patel has a knack for anecdotes! I wonder if she does holiday parties.....?

Shahrukh Khan's Don 2 in legal tangle?

Bollywood Baadshah Shahrukh Khan, who is now heading towards Don 2 that will be released next month, is facing some legal problems. The makers of original Don, starring Amitabh Bachchan have slapped a legal notice at the producers and are dragging Excel Entertainment, Red Chillies and Reliance Entertainment over copyright issue.

?We had given remaking rights only for the film Don ? The chase begins again in 2005. But the rights for Don 2 are yet in our possession, therefore we have raised our objection upon the infringement on our copyright, through our solicitors Film India Corporate Legam Law Firm,? a source said to Daily Bhaskar.

If we remember Shahrukh's last movie Ra.One, it faced the same issue. TV producer Yash Patnaik had moved the court claiming that much-anticipated sci-fi film Ra.One was conceptualised by him. The script writer alleged that Ra.One producers had copied his idea of an Indian superhero and thus violated the copyright act.

Rockstar at the Box Office!!

Rockstar, as expected, has opened to a good start at multiplexes. However, single screen theatres wasn?t upto our expectations.

Critics have given the film a mixed review. Day one has seen pretty decent responses from multiplexes which is between 70 to 80 percent. The best was from he NCR region, particularly Delhi where some of the shows were housefull. However, single screen theaters saw only a 50 percent response, which is below average.to the mark.

Let?s wait and watch in the coming days, what?s the fate of Rockstar..

The next major release would be Desi Boyz, starring John Abraham, Deepika Padukone and Akshay Kumar in the lead, on November 25.

The actress had was already signed for Race 2. However, the dates clashed with Dabangg 2, making Sonakshi opt out of the former.

Bobby Vats plays profiling lead in ?Ardh Satya of the 2000s?- ?Kya Yehi Sach Hai?

He started his career with Shyam Benegal and went on to match commercial film superstars like Ajay Devgn and Neil Nitin frame by frame in films like ?Halla Bol? and ?Aa Dekhen Zaara? but yet carved his own distinct identity in niche films! Meet Bobby Vats, who is the profiling lead in ?Kya Yehi Sach Hai?, a hard hitting film on corruption in the police by ex IPS office YP Singh and inspired by the best selling novel ?Carnage of Angels?. In fact, this film is being touted as the Ardh Satya of the new millennium.

Bobby Vats, who will celebrate his birthday in December, says, ?Kya Yeho Sach Hai? is a true-to-life film, which is ready to release now post the Anna Hazare campaign against corruption. Police corruption was always a part of life but no one dared comment on it earlier but post Anna Hazare, it?s time to speak up and be heard. Baba Ramdev has given his blessing for the release of the film and we are all hopeful that the international award winning film will be well received in India too.?

Without revealing much about the character, Bobby Vats says, ?I play a police officer in ?Kya Yehi Sach Hai? and YP Singh Sir helped me a lot to bring energy, passion and realism into the role. When I portrayed the role, I understood the trials, tribulations and pressures that police officials and their families go through every day! I am proud of my role and my character in this film and will take my career to the next level. Its my tribute to my mentors like Shyam Benegal, Govind Nihalani and Om Puri.?

Principally a theatre actor with commercial feature films to his credit, Bobby Vats has come a long way from the days when he studied at Colvin Taluqdars College. This year, he already had a strikingly different film ?Chitkhabrey ? The Shades of Grey? and his films are up for release this year includes KYA YEHI SACH HAI and IT'S A MAN'S WORLD. The well read actor also has a flair for languages including English, Hindi and Urdu amongst others.

Bobby always has flair and penchant for playing drastically and dramatically different character. In ?Chitkhabrey?, Bobby Vats played Balaji Narayan, who has a typical rags to riches story, from slums of Vizag, to the Silicon Valley. He never looked back or did anything for the down trodden-the social strata he belonged to. Typical Indian male, fascinated by white skin, master of manipulation and an opportunist to the core,? says Bobby Vats.

Incidentally, Bobby was also singled out by Hema Malini to play the role of Yudisthir in her ballet ?Draupadi?, which was staged in India and abroad. Bobby also played the sutradhaar in the English play neither ?Neither Full nor Three-fourth? adapted from Gulzar?s ?Addha? (The Dwarf). Currently, Bobby is playing the publisher in ?Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki? (Star Plus) and is cast as a fashion photographer.

Bobby Vats beginning from Joru ka gulam,...where he starred opposite Govinda with two girls opposite Bobby Vats (one of them was Rakhi sawant). Govind nihalani was not Bobby?s mentor. Bobby?s favorite actors are Sanjeev kumar, Nasserudeen shah and Marlon brando Process of acting for bobby?s lies in Versatility .

Bobby Vats started his filmy journey from T.V serial "Discovery of India" directed by Shyam Benegal, did many side roles in films and many T.V serials. Talking about his past, Bobby Vats says, ?I used to do stage shows in all police function since my childhood as my father belonged to the forces and on every police annual day function,I was told to perform. That started my liking towards acting.?

Referring to his first break, Bobby says, ?My first break came all of sudden when I was studying in 12th standard and came for vacations to Bombay ?My elder sister and my brother in law gave me the address of Filmcity, where I went to see shooting. I was roaming there and suddenly I saw a line where lot of people was standing and a gentleman came and gave me a piece of paper saying "These are your lines".

The Possible Dream ?The Story of the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon, a coffee table book, chronicling the incredible nine-year journey of this path-breaking event, which has metamorphosed into the most eagerly awaited annual event in the city, was launched by Hon?ble Ministers Shri Chhagan Bhujbal, Shri Jaidatta Kshirsagar, Shri Anil Deshmukh and Smt Shailaja Girkar, Honourable Deputy Mayor of Mumbai, in the presence of Sreeram Iyer, COO, Standard Chartered, N Chandrasekaran, CEO & MD TCS, Event Ambassador John Abraham, Anil and Tina Ambani, representatives of our partners and a host of other dignitaries at the Hotel Trident, here, on Friday.

Written by Anil Dharker and embellished with pictures that tell their own individual stories, the book has messages from the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Prithviraj Chavan and Jaspal Bindra, CEO Standard Chartered. The book?s foreword has been penned by Anil Ambani, who is a serious distance runner and has participated in nearly all of the past editions of the Mumbai Marathon.

The 184-page hard bound collector?s item, published by Rupa Publications India, brings out the innumerable stories of bravery, inspiration and pride that have been spawned by the event, details the first person experiences of people whose lives have been transformed by the event and touches upon the lives of those thousands of individuals who have benefited from the monies for charity, raised through the event.

Well researched and with detailed interviews and profiles of all individuals and organisations responsible for the runaway success of the event that kick started a Running Movement in the country, the book has chapters that showcase the highlights of the event over the past eight years.

The almost Rs 60 crores raised for charity through the event, the inclusion of the Rajiv Gandhi sea link in the marathon route, the journey of the Marathon Flame from the city of Marathon to Mumbai, the birth of the Marathon Anthem and the breaking of the 2 hour 10-minute barrier for the new course record are some of the highlights of the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon, brought to life through the book.

It has a separate section devoted to the Event Ambassadors -- World and Olympic champions and world beaters in various sporting disciplines, who have graced the event over the years, with their quotes and observations on the event.

The book also has a section with a selection of award winning photographs, submitted by photographers from various publications for the ?Best Published Photo Contest? that has been an annual post event feature at the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon.

In his message, Chief Minister, Shri Prithviraj Chavan has said, ?Over the last eight years the Mumbai Marathon has an identity of its own, which has been the catalyst in bringing thousands of sports lovers together on a common platform. This book will allow readers to enjoy the history of the Mumbai Marathon and will become a collector?s item.?

Anil Ambani, in his foreword, has this to say about the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon, ?The Mumbai Marathon has come to touch upon the everyday lives of Mumbai?s citizens. It has incubated a sporting and fitness culture that has taken wing in the city, and inspired aspirant runners across the nation. It has also evolved into the country?s single largest charity platform for social giving, benefiting over 250 non-government organizations and thousands of individuals.?

He then goes on to add, ?Of course I have first-hand experience of the magic of its run, I consider myself privileged to have participated in the Mumbai Marathon, in its ?half-marathon? category, for nearly all its years. Its start itself is a heady collective feeling; the chill of the morning breeze touched by the warmth of my fellow runners. Some of us tentative and some filled with expectation. All of us in readiness for the initial steps that will yield to the palpable and infectious adrenaline rush. It is a feeling of a country in motion ? vigorous, vibrant, inclusive and participative.?

Jaspal Bindra, CEO Standard Chartered, in his message to the readers says, ?After the first flag off on February 15, 2004, together with Procam International and all our partners, we knew we had embarked upon a very special journey. Nine years on, I've attended every single one; I still get goose bumps when I see thousands of people cross the start line as the vibrancy and enthusiasm is beyond compare. Each person has a different story to tell - stories of grit, courage, creativity and compassion. When you are out there, caste, creed, colour, gender, social status - nothing matters. What does is your own conviction and determination.?
