When the shadows of the twinkling stars kiss the calm waters of the sea on a moonlit night and mist fills the air with romance, even the angles up in the heaven are bound to descend on earth to be a part of this mesmerising phenomenon. And, this is what exactly happened at the ongoing Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Spring Summer 2012.
Wendell Rodricks? show cast a spell on the audience as he created a 'rejuvenating moonlight beach collection' and a live band played in the background as models, dressed like angels, sashayed the runway in his creations. ?I wanted to bring the flavour of the 70s moonlight parties and recreate the mood of having a rock party by the beach,? said an excited Rodricks post the show.
The designer, known for his love for minimalism, made sure that he kept his signature style intact even while presenting a glamourous line. He made use of his favourite fabrics like linen, cotton, lycra, silk, satin, crepe, georgette and organza. The garments were easy-going and relaxed as the fabrics flowed freely on the body.
The signature Wendell Rodricks collection displayed an array of beachwear for both men and women. While women?s wear boasted of everything from A-line dresses to kaftans to jumpsuits to Bermudas to long gowns and short dresses, menswear comprised of beach trousers, Bermudas, pyjamas, lungi wraps and swimming trunks.
Rodricks played with his favourite colour white, presenting it in various forms and shades. Lime green, aqua blue, berry brown and dark purple were incorporated smartly to infuse high voltage energy.
And, bringing down the curtains for the designer on Day 3 at the fashion Fair was Bollywood?s very own charmer Deepika Padukone. The actress made for a beautiful showstopper, looking none less than an angel, as she walked the ramp in a moonlight white bridal gown with rose petal confetti and swirling butterflies adorning the empire waist dress.
Talking about the collection Deepika said, ?This is very Wendell Rodricks in terms of the colours and the cut. I know when a bride would want to dress up, she want to wear something like this. It?s very practical and yet makes you look beautiful.?
The show was high on energy as the models threw Frisbees in the air and audience sang and dance to the tunes of ?Zarine and the boys?.
