Ranbir calls Deepika and Sonam 'bi***es'!

You have been linked to most of your co-stars?
Yes, I have been linked to most of my costars and I wish it were true. I have always been open about my relationship. If I am in one I?ll speak about it and not hide it. I am a friendly person. I do not have many friends. So while working on a film I am totally involved with everyone on the sets. Those people become my friends.
See, they are all beautiful women and not just physically or superficially but are hard-working and achievers. There are two kinds of attractions ?physical and emotional. You have to be smart at your job. If it were you, her or a lamp post, I still have to romance her (the co-star). That?s my job. I don?t do films because I want to romance an actor, but because I want to do the film.

Do you think one needs to act and not chat on a chat show? Karan Johar?s chat show was a turning point. You were extremely candid, and having fun there?
I don?t regret. I am not saying it doesn?t matter, but as an actor, if my films are good, and audiences like them I am happy. All other things are just like frills, they?ll not be there tomorrow. So you have to just focus on your work, if I start clarifying or contradicting things said about me, I will be derailed from what my path is.

It has been rumoured that you and Imran Khan were friends and then?
We tried to do something together which did not work out. I have nothing against him. We were never best friends. His success or failure never mattered much to me. Whenever some article is written, we text each other?so we are that clean.

What?re your parameters when choosing films?
It?s an amalgamation of a lot of things. So far it?s been seven releases for me in the last three-and-a-half years. I have been very instinctive. After I hear the script, what I feel about it? is how I decide my films. And if the director has something to say and not just make money, it works. Also I feel I have been at the right place at the right time. I came into the industry at a time when most senior actors were crossing 30s and many directors had scripts with a young actor in mind? so it kind of fell into my lap.

What about your personal equations with Deepika (Padukone) and Sonam (Kapoor) especially post the chat show where they commented on you?
It was very coincidental that I was there while they were shooting for the show. Though I did not see it there.A friend of mine got me the episodeThere is no sense of negativity between us. When I saw the show, I was like ?bi***es? and that was all.

It did not hurt?
I think what happened after the show was that people started building up on what they had said, my parents reacting to it... trying to be protective of me.

When Deepika came to the After Hrs office, she?d said that she?d want to work together with you?
Yeah, we are doing a film together. I think it?s too small an industry and one cannot afford to be at odds with anyone. It?s as simple as picking up the phone and clarifying everything. We had an intense relationship towards the end, but I think she?s moved on and I have moved on and we both are happy for each other. There is no ill feeling and there is no agenda. We both are actors and yes we come with baggage which was written about so much. So I look forward to working with her and I hope we?ll be able to get rid of that baggage.

And Sonam?
Sonam is a family friend.I have seen her growing up. We did our first movie together so we tend to chat up a lot about Saawariya.

Is it difficult to date an actor?
It is very difficult. Depends on the kind of person you are. If you are a very secure person, somebody who doesn?t need too much attention, who is not a male chauvinistic pig, it?s okay. But you are in the film business, there is rivalry, competition, jealousy and anxiety? there is so much that comes attached to it. So if you are willing to look beyond things which are frivolous, it?s alright.

Do you believe in Karma?
Of course. Because I have been bitten a lot in my life, I have been slapped by karma, while growing up so I have realised the value of good and bad.

Are you fashion conscious?
I am actually a fashion idiot. Where my fashion is concerned, I am a big borrower. I borrow a lot from the movies I do? so if I am working on a Wake Up Sid, you?ll see me wearing those t-shirts, coz I don?t shop much for myself. But I?m not that fashion conscious.

Do you have Hollywood ambitions?
Zero, not at all. I hate Hollywood.

Most youngsters your age want to be the next Tom Cruise...
No, I always wanted to be the next Shah Rukh Khan or Salman Khan. I don?t want to be Tom Cruise. We have access to Hollywood films, but I don?t have aspirations because a) I am not interested b) it?s not that Spielberg or Ridley Scott are running after me and c) I am very rooted in Indian cinema and I want to do something meaningful here.
