Inspiration For Production Grips Saif Ali Khan, Aamir Khan

He's certainly espying success with his spy thriller Agent Vinod. Having kickstarted production with his venture 'Iluminati Films', Saif Ali Khan is sanguine that his Kareena Kapoor starrer helmed by Sriram Raghavan will find favour with audiences.

The Junior Nawab who greenlighted his banner with the Imtiaz Ali flick Love Aaj Kal made a revelation of sorts at a recent Press Meet.

"The truth is that I had actually wanted to start my production house with Agent Vinod because it was my dream project," said Khan. "But I also realised that a film like this one would need some research. And so, I thought it was better to begin Love Aaj Kal with. It took about two years to make the film and I'm quite happy with the outcome."

Stars and directors taking recourse to production in order to satiate their creativity to the fullest can hardly be called a new factor.

Few are aware that Ashutosh Gowariker had set his sights on crafting Swades initially, though it was Lagaan that swung into production first. Needless to add, Aamir Khan produced the period flick himself as he felt that there would be few takers for a theme like that one."Whenever I discussed the subject with anyone, they told me that it was not a good idea at all and almost all the industry folks that I knew strongly discouraged me from making Lagaan. So, I felt that the best way to do it was to produce Lagaan myself," Mr. Perfectionist Khan had earlier stated in a media quote.

The 'U' and 'Me' in U Me Aur Hum was Ajay Devgn; the 'Hum' was Kajol and he together. Devgn, who'd savoured success as an actor opted to produce and direct the movie himself.
"The subject was something that Kajol and I liked immensely," Devgn had revealed in an earlier interface."Since I liked the subject so much I felt that directing the film myself would be the best thing."

Guess, it's all about total control?
