Date games heat up in Bollywood

?Single and ready to mingle? seems to be the mantra in B-Town with most of the current crop of stars unabashedly flaunting their unattached status. Call it coincidence, but most actors currently happen to find themselves in the sexy singles brigade and going by their dating games, neither of them seem to be in a rush to trade their single status for that of a committed one either.

So, hooking up for dates with fellow singles or partying together is throwing up a whole lot of interesting equations in the industry.

Sample this: Actor John Abraham was recently linked to co-star Deepika Padukone, while Deepika?s ex Ranbir Kapoor was said to be dating co-star Nargis Fakhri. Ranbir was also linked to John?s ex Bipasha Basu, and Bips got linked to Shahid Kapoor, who in turn has been said to be dating Anushka Sharma. And her rumoured ex Ranveer Singh got linked to Sonakshi Sinha.

Interestingly, this unapologetic ?it?s-okay-to-be-seen-together? attitude is certainly seen as a welcome change in an industry, where earlier, a star would rather be seen dead than spotted partying with a fellow co-star for fear of being paired up.

Industry-watchers feel that this change towards being open about dating is reflective of today?s times. ?Today families accept their children dating more easily than they did say a few years back. So, naturally it?s becoming an accepted norm for the Bollywood stars too,? says trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

?Why should we stop going out with friends just because they happen to be of the opposite sex and someone may pair us up?? quips Bipasha. ?Today most of us feel that way. There?s no need to flaunt, but there?s no reason to hide it either,? she adds. Actor Ranbir Kapoor agrees adding, ?What?s wrong in dating if one is single?? But don?t these off screen equations affect onscreen relationships? ?Not really,? feel insiders. ?Actors are smart enough to not let their personal lives interfere with professional ones.

Besides, it?s a small set of actors and they are bound to either work or party in same circles,? says a veteran producer.

?It?s like trying permutation and combinations to see who clicks best with with whom? Besides, it may just help bag better endorsements and film deals too based on a couple creating a wave at a certain point too,? adds a young actor, smiling, ?It?s a win-win for both anyways.?
