He had composed music for the Hindi films Prem Geet in the year 1981, Arth and Saath Saath in the year 1982, in Indian TV serials like Mirza Ghalib (1988) and Kahkashan (1991). He is considered to be the most successful Ghazal Singer and composer of all time.
