Best of Bollywood 2011 - Biggest Film Surprise

The recognition to the Biggest Film Surprise is given to the film which surprised at the Box Office and had gotten surprise acclaim from the audience.

#5. No One Killed Jessica - Directed by Rajkumar Gupta (UTV Spot Boy)

This film redefined the performance of women-centric the box office and broke the supposed jinx of releasing a film on the first weekend of the year. The film was the first hit of the year and solidified 2011 as being the year for Vidya Balan.

#4. Tanu Weds Manu - Directed by Anand L Rai (Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, Paramhans Creations and Movies N More Pvt Ltd)

Even though the music was superb for this film I was still skeptical on how the movie was going to perform at the box office since R. Madhavan has not been known as a solo hero and Kangna Ranaut does not have a large fan base. The film was surprise winter hit even though the storyline was slightly predictable.

#3. F.A.L.T.U. - Directed by Remo D'Souza (Puja Entertainment)

FALTU had no well known stars in the lead but still managed to earn at the box office due to great music.

#2. Haunted - Directed by Vikram Bhatt (Dar Motion Pictures, BVG Films, ASA Production and Enterprises Pvt. Ltd.)

Who would've thought that Bollywood's first 3D film will star two no named stars and still be successful.

#1. Pyaar Ka Punchnama - Directed by Luv Ranjan (Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, Wide Frame Pictures)

This film enforced the fact that a film does not need major stars, a popular director, and a big banner to make a successful film. All you need is solid script and great acting!
