Casa de Basket Case, somewhere in the world.
Nov. 17th, 2011.
This soft cuddly product of nature rests comfortably in my arms, oblivious of everything that's happening around her. She remains quiet, peaceful, and the serene look in her eyes of a darker hue remind me of the innocence that only a being like this can contain. Her head covered with a soft blanket of fur nestles in a quilt of various colors dominated mostly in green and red, welcoming the start of the holiday season.
As I look down upon her, I'm reminded by the memory of when I first held her as she came into our lives and changed it forever. I stare at her in complete silence, wondering how our lives would be if she hadn't been around. I shed a tear. She reaches up almost as if to wipe it away, but she only resettles herself in my loving arms.
Despite our lives having been changed, I realize very little has effected the world around us. The sun is still hot. The winter will still be cold. But with the addition of this innocent angel, that I hold in my hands, perhaps the world will be full of happiness and joy as well. At least ours will be.
My daughter cries out, "Mom, she's the 4th one to carry our name forward! The family that you and Daddy started!" I shed another tear as I reminisce over what my daughter just cried out. Indeed, this beautiful creature is the 4th. Before her...Lulu, Zippy, then Rocky, now...our sweet Maya.
These are the rare moments and interactions I cherish the most. Then just as quickly as I scooped her up, my dog jumps out of my loving embrace and lets me know she needs to take a whiz in the yard. My peaceful moment has come to a crashing end. ;-(
lol....I'm here y'all! I'm laid up in bed and a bit dopey on pain killers. I have a herniated disc in my lower back which is causing me some unneeded and unwelcomed pain!
I'm working on new posts, when I can manage to sit up pain-free. They should be posted by the end of today...! My apologies...
