Dostana, ZNMD, Desi Boyz: Hottest male leads
Lately Akshay Kumar is trying really hard to look serious in comic situations. Remember the scene in 'Thank You' where Akshay's character finds Bobby Deol cheating on his wife Sonam Kapoor in a party. Had it been a decade ago, Akshay Kumar would have gone for a toothy smile during the scene.
A loser-ish smile and constant gibberish were the chief characteristics of his style of comedy but lately Akshay has developed a different sort of mannerism where he intervenes fellow actors at certain junctures to involve the viewers more into the story.
Priyadarshan is one such director who has helped Akshay in transforming into a capable comedian with films as Hera Pheri, Garam Masala and Bhagam Bhaag.
Hera Pheri featured Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty along with Akshay and the whole comedy of confusion was primarily created through dialogue among the lead characters.
Govinda tried to match Akshay's energy in Bhagam Bhaag with trademark spontaneity but Akshay stole the show mostly due to the irritation he managed to convey through his body language.
His chemistry with the fellow actor was at his best in Garam Masala among Priyadarshan's films where he not only managed to make the role of photographer Makrand Godpure convincing and funny but also hid the lacks in John Abraham?s acting.
The pair is again returning with Rohit Dhawan's 'Desi Boyz'. The teasers showcase a nice tuning between Akshay and John despite a good age and experience gap.
The fitness of Akshay Kumar appears to give the beefy John Abraham a run for money. John Abraham can't rely on the same superhero skills that he has shown in 'Force' as Akshay Kumar is any day a better action hero than Abraham and probably this is the reason behind John Abraham?s mellowed down acting.
The couple looks complementary to each other unlike some recent pairs. Take 'Rascals' for example where Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt looked poles apart and clueless about each other's characters.
Similarly, Vinay Pathak and Kay Kay failed to deliver in 'Bheja Fry 2'.
Tarun Mansukhani presented John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan in 'Dostana' where John Abraham attracted more eyeballs than bikini clad Priyanka Chopra due to his well toned body. Abraham and Abhishek looked completely at ease in scenes where they had to appear as a gay couple.
Shah Rukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan had also come up with a similar scene in 'Kal Ho Na Ho'. These scenes could have looked cheap and meaningless without the proper coordination between the actors.
It's the age of multistarrers and an actor is required to strike balance with his fellow actors. 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' has shown that how could the conversation among three different individuals create a relationship drama.
Thus a film with two or more leading men needs a fine harmony as far as different acting styles are concerned.
John Abraham is more or less known for his good looks and has not given ample proofs of dependable acting skills so far but the film might excel due to the unprompted chemistry between him and Akshay Kumar.
